Political scientist specializing in security studies, international relations theory, diplomatic history, and comparative politics. Research centers on the theoretical renewal of realism, with a focus on war, diplomacy, and international relations in the Indo-Pacific. Also a pioneer of Evolutionary Political Science in Japan, integrating insights from evolutionary psychology and neuroscience into IR theory to bridge the natural and social sciences. Published original theoretical frameworks in world-leading SSCI-indexed journals including International Affairs and International Relations, with three sole-authored monographs and two edited volumes.
